Like many opportunities in life, the chance to guest edit this issue of Operative Techniques in Otolaryngology was unexpected. The Head and Neck Surgery residents at the University of Michigan
have used this journal to prepare for cases for many years. We had begun to perform
orthodromic temporalis tendon transfer more frequently, and the trainees had noticed
that there was no article in Operative Techniques regarding this surgery. Thus, an idea for a single article grew into an entire issue.
